RetailX Limited

RetailX is the research division of the professional media group that includes the InternetRetailing, eDelivery, and Tamebay.com titles. Our research benchmarks a company’s size as well as its performance from the end-consumer’s perspective. Our print and online material provide ecommerce and multichannel professionals with a thorough understanding of the industry’s status, trends, and drivers as well as the changing customer profile.

We seek a motivated, energetic new staff member to join our focussed, industry-leading research and editorial team. The Research Engineer will bring additional rigour, focus and consistency to the most critical parts of our benchmarking of retail companies and in particular the presentation of that data to RetailX members on the website.

The Role

The Research Engineer will develop and maintain systems that collect, collate, analyse, and report on large data sets. You, the successful applicant, will report to the Head of Research and also take instructions from the other members of the research team, particularly the Research Research Engineer. You will own the time table for the delivery of research and website development milestones, and communicate well with the rest of the team. You will primarily focus on developing existing data into presentable analyses and taking steps to add more and more interesting data to our body of research – setting up automated systems to ensure the analysis is updated regularly with minimal labour. You will work to an agreed schedule of priorities and brief third-party developers where necessary. The role requires an understanding of the research process and what particular metrics mean – which will grow with time. The role will be office-based in London in the Cannon Street office of InternetRetailing Media Services Limited, with the rest of the team. From time to time the candidate will help other team members with their responsibilities.

The Successful Applicant

You will enjoy accuracy and thoroughness and be creative in how you solve problems. You will develop research approaches better to support the objectives of cataloguing and analysing research. You will thrive on project management principles, regularly reconsidering whether the project is still on track and what needs to be done to meet targets.

You will be confident with advanced data manipulation and able to demonstrate QA experience. You will have a proven ability to learn additional skills and procedures and to recruit freelance help required to optimise project delivery. You will be organised and ready to take responsibility for meeting agreed deadlines and for flagging, well in advance, when those deadlines are unrealistic.

Salary Range

The salary is negotiable depending on experience, with a range of 30-35k.
